Wifi Wifi Everywhere - well almost
I was in Elizabeth NJ this morning on my way to visit my kids in Camp in Pennsylvania. I had a pile of emails to unload that I wrote on the plane. But, alas, no wifi or Starbucks in Elizabeth. But, catch this, as I get to East Stroudsberg Pa., right off the highway is a laundromat with a big sign that says "WIFI Here". So here I am in the parking lot on a network called Washwear!

Interesting. I always thought that in the US they must have WiFi hotspot everywhere, until I visited Miami a couple of months ago for an academic conference, and there was no WiFi in the area (Downtown). I even bought a new dongle since I couldn't believe there's no hotspot...
for belt and braces across the world i have AT&T 3G modem built into my laptop with a SIM. Works great outside the US (worked great in Israel) and some US markets. AT&T 3G coverage is spotty at best.
Also I have a USB Sprint 3G adapter which has very good coverage across the US.
We started WeFi www.wefi.com with exactly that vision of seamless and free wifi connection everywhere. As more mobile devices like the iPhone have WiFi, and people are downloading increasing amounts of data/video on the go, the roaming/data charges of the mobile operators are too high, and even 3G will never be as fast as WiFi, so WiFi will increasingly be a vital part of any mobile data network.
